BreakDroid is a work in progress. I hope at some point it can be the all in one root / android tools app for Mac users. I plan on adding other devices to the root list as testing and time allow. If you are willing to be a tester please tweet me @northmendo or email me at junk You must be willing to restore your device to stock or start that way to make sure it all works.

Current supported Devices-
Kindle Fire
Galaxy Nexus – Tested with BreakDroid 0.4.2+
Galaxy Note – Need more testers
Droid Razr – Should also work on other Droid branded phones
The Root Multiple Devices = zergRush
(zergRush should work with many phones. Basically any phone that can be rooted with the zergRush exploit. There is a long list below that should work. Please try it if you are brave enough. I don’t think it can hurt your phone it just may not work.)

    Hi Northmendo,

first off I’d like to say thanks for developing BreakDroid! For those who have a Mac like me it’s almost impossible to find a rooting utility.
However, I’m today writing to you for a problem. I got my new Kindle Fire a few days ago (I live in Italy, so I absolutely needed to root it in order to install whatever I might need). I searched in google which is when I found your BreakDroid. I downloaded it and started using it. The problem is that while using it on my KF something happened and my KF is now in frozen mode (yellow flame on black screen). I tried to hard reset it (20 secs power botton pushed down), but it just turns off after 10 secs and when I turn it on it’s still in frozen mode. No way to get out of here… Is there any way I can solve this?

Thank you very much in advance

PS. Note that I also have an old Windows computer, so if you suggest any possible way to solve it through Windows I can give it a try.

The good news is your Kindle is ok. Try the manual steps in the Kindle tools. Start on step 3 and let me know how it goes.

Will BreakDroid work on the droid x2, and if so, what is the procedure.

It will work. Just use the droid tools in the app.

    Hi Northmendo,

Thank you so much for your amazing work. I am sorry to bother you with a stupid question. I successfully rooted my Kindle Fire, but when I was flashing the ROM I really did something extremely stupid, I forgot to copy the .zip file and I did a factory reset, so now I don’t know how to copy the file to my kindle sd card.

I hope you can help! Thanks!
